Life Care Center of Littleton, Colorado, recently received the 2018 Silver – Achievement in Quality Award from the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living.
The center was notified of its achievement on June 28. Only 166 Silver awards were given this year nationwide.
“I felt proud that we have been recognized by such a respected organization,” said Michelle Fraternali, executive director. “We strive for excellence at Life Care Center of Littleton each day, and it is heartwarming for our efforts to be acknowledged.”
Implemented by AHCA/NCAL in 1996, the National Quality Award Program is centered on the criteria of the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program. The program assists providers of long-term and post-acute care services in achieving their performance excellence goals.
The program has three levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold. Facilities begin at the Bronze level and must earn an award at each level before applying for the next. They must fill out a detailed application for each tier.
Life Care Center of Littleton earned the Bronze level in 2016.
The center focused its application for the Silver Award on improving occupancy, reducing staff turnover and increasing its rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. It is currently the only skilled nursing and rehab center in the Denver area to have a five-star rating in each category.
“Achievement of the Silver National Quality Award is a prestigious accomplishment recognized throughout the health care community, and we are very proud of the associates at Life Care Center of Littleton for their hard work to reach this goal,” said Beecher Hunter, Life Care president. “The award is also symbolic of a highly functioning team because it takes the commitment of every associate to win it.”
“This year’s Silver award recipients are positioned well to accomplish even better outcomes as they progress in their quality journey,” said Alana Wolfe, Chair of the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Board of Overseers. “I commend these facilities on this outstanding achievement.”
The Award will be presented formally during AHCA/NCAL’s 69th Annual Convention and Exposition, Oct. 7 – 10, in San Diego, California.
